Stella Krumrey

Stella Krumrey was elected to serve on the Corporation’s Board of Directors in 2008.  Stella brings much traditional knowledge and values to the Board.  She is highly dedicated to her community and has been involved in many aspects of community development for Old Harbor.  She has worked for Kodiak Area Native Association as the clinic manager in the Old Harbor Health Clinic from 1996 to present.  She also worked as the Community Health Practitioner (CHP) from 1980 to 1996.  She is a certified CHP and has attended numerous classes pertaining to health, wellness and self-growth.  She has been dedicated to improving the well-being of community members in Old Harbor for over 28 years.

Stella is also involved with the community of Old Harbor in a variety of other ways.  She is the Old Harbor city Vice Mayor, member of the Tribal Council, and President of the Advisory School Board.  She also participates as a member of the Kodiak Archipelago Rural Regional Forum and is a committee member for the KANA Health Committee.  Stella is devoted to the Three Saints Orthodox Church and has served as a reader since 1970. 

Stella works with the youth of the community by sharing her knowledge of the Alutiiq language.  She teaches the Alutiiq language through the Alutiiq Museum Language Revitalization Program and volunteers as a linguist for the Nuniaq Alutiiq Dancers.  She enjoys bird and animal watching and spending time with her husband Ray, her children and grandchildren in her leisure time.
