Donna Christiansen Nakasone has served on the Board of Directors since 2016. Donna was born and raised in Old Harbor where she fished with her father, the late Ralph (Labaky) Christiansen, brothers, and late grandparents, Larry and Martha Matfay. She has been employed by Placer County Board of Elections and Ready to Help Estate Sales.
Donna serves as the chairperson of Foothill Bible Church’s Women’s Leadership Board and leads a Board of ladies ministries for the Northern California Regional of the IFCA International. She has volunteered with the Lincoln High School Boosters Club, wrestling, soccer, baseball, and basketball teams, a homeless shelter, and retirement and care homes.
She has remained connected to her heritage with regular visits with her mother Florence Pestrikoff and family, and has served on the Old Harbor Scholarship Board. She is committed to preserving Alutiiq cultural values and practices, and maintaining the viability of the Corporation. She believes that it is important to be accessible and accountable to the shareholders of the Old Harbor Native Corporation.
Donna lives in Lincoln, California with her husband of 36 years, Verne. She has been a home educator of their seven children, who are all grown. She values being with her family and enjoys hiking and gardening and good conversation.
